Austin Healey\u2019s career began when he represented England U21 and A level as well as England Sevens whilst playing for Orrell R.C. He moved to Leicester where he made 250 appearances over 11 seasons playing virtually every position behind the scrum. He has enjoyed success both in domestic and European competitions while playing for Leicester Tigers.<\/p>\n
In 1997 he made his senior England debut playing in Ireland. He has represented England in 5 Five\/Six Nations, 1999 World Cup, 2 British Lions\u2019 tours and in total has earned 51 international caps.<\/p>\n
During the 05\/06 seasons Austin was handed club vice-captaincy at Leicester and also regularly captained the team. He announced his retirement from the game at the end of that season. More recently he was nominated by Tigers Members as recipient of the Outstanding Service Award for his contribution to the club \u2013 an award well-deserved by this outstanding player.<\/p>\n
Austin became an active Patron immediately with an appearance on Who Wants to be a Millionaire where with his partner he secured the sum of \u00a350,000 for the Foundation. He now coaches and promotes rugby at club level as well as being involved with television work.<\/i><\/p>\n
